Kunal Kamra ‘gaddar’ case: Mumbai HC directs police not to arrest comedians until the order is announced

The Mumbai High Court temporarily stated that he would not be arrested until his withdrawal of the defense passed an order. The argument is ending, orders reserved for interim relief, seeking investigations into FIR.
The petition reportedly submitted on April 5 to challenge the FIR on constitutional grounds, believing that it violates Kamra’s fundamental rights under Articles 19 and 21, namely freedom of speech and right to life. The judge of the teacher, composed of Justice SV Kotwal and Justice SM Modak, will hear about this.
Kamra’s legal representative believes that his satirical performance is part of his show “Naya Bharat” and is a protected speech that should not attract criminal prosecution.
Kamra’s lawyer said it was not a murder but a matter caused by the comedy show, further stressing that if the authorities intend to submit an affidavit, a notice must be issued by April 16.
Ticketing platform BookMyShow issued a statement on Monday how the platform “promotes the sales of tickets” and operates its business “neutral” and complies with applicable Indian laws. Rahool N Kanal has officially written to BookMyshow, urging ticketing platforms to avoid promoting ticket sales for comedian Kunal Kamra’s upcoming show.
The letter, dated April 2, highlights concerns about Kamra’s controversial content and its potential impact on public sentiment.
The Madras High Court on Monday expanded temporary protection from arrests until April 17 to April 17.
Last month, Kunal, who sought expected bail with Madras High Court, claimed that he had satirized sarcastic comments during his performance at the Mumbai Habitat Studios, received many threats.
The comics sing a parody of “Bholi Si Surat”, a pop song from the Bollywood movie “Dil to Pagal Hai”. He allegedly aimed at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde with this imitation song, resulting in multiple flights against him.
After the controversy, Yuva Sena, the Shiv Sena youth group of Eknath Shinde, destroyed the habitat comedy venue for the performance filming.
The comedian, who had several runs at the center led by BJP, refused to apologize for his remarks to Shinde. However, he said he would work with the police.
Kunal also answered to political leaders that he “threatened” to teach a lesson in his formal statement.
Kamra said, “The inability to joke at the expense of a powerful public figure has not changed the nature of his rights.
He added that, in terms of his knowledge, it was not a violation of the law. “Our freedom of speech and freedom of expression should not only be used to being a strong and rich rich and ridiculous, although today’s media will convince us.
