kurukkankundu's kids seek collector's path in Agali, power help

A group of school students from Kurukkankundu, Agali Panchayat village in Attappady Kallamala village, complained to the district collector here on Saturday against the forest department that opposes its roads and electricity connectivity.

The students said that their families have lived in Kurukkankundu since 1960 and provided proper land documents. However, they said the basic facilities were rejected as the Ministry of Forests raised objections.

The students staged Satyagraha and the night parade in 2020, demanding internet connectivity as schools switched to online mode after Covid-19 lockdown. They are students of Mount Jelipala High School. They said they were forced to walk 7 km to get to the school due to the lack of suitable roads.

Even when the questions were raised at the conference, no solution has been found so far. The children said they were deprived of basic facilities such as electricity supply and roads, without their fault.
