2 workers suffered torture in Chhattisgarh County for suspicion of theft; nail pull, given electric shock

Police said Saturday that two ice cream factory workers in the Colba area were allegedly tortured by their employer and his assistants who pulled out their nails and slashed them when they suspected theft. Police officials said victims Abhishek Bhambi and Vinod Bhambi were originally from the Bhilwara district of Rajasthan and were hired to work in the ice cream factory owned by Chhotu Gurjar in the Khaprabhatti district under the restrictions of the Citizen Line Police Station.

On April 14, Gurjar and his colleague Mukesh Sharma accused two workers of theft. He said the two were deprived of their nails, taking out their nails in light of the electric shock, adding that the video of torture had become all the rage. He said the video clip showed a half-naked man being electrocuted and hit.

The two victims managed to escape and arrived at their home country in Bilwara. They filed a complaint at the Gulabra Police Department. He said the Rajasthan Police Department registered the “zero” FIR and forwarded the case to Korba police for further action. Under zero FIR, victims can file a complaint at any police station regardless of the location of the crime.

Subsequently, the case against Gurjar and Sharma was registered at the Civil Line Police Station in Colba on Friday. One of the victims, Abhishek Bhambhi, said he asked him to advance Rs 20,000 from his employer to pay the installment fee. He said Abishek expressed his willingness to resign when the owner refused, angering the defendant who beat the two workers.

“So far, no arrests have been made and further investigations are underway,” said Pramod Dadsena, a station housing officer (SHO) officer at the Civil Line Police Department.
