Launch Wave collects motivation from Chennai Academy of Arts and Sciences

The Academy of Arts and Sciences in Tamil Nadu is now becoming a hotbed for entrepreneurial activities. With the rise of innovation and entrepreneurship culture, universities across the state are actively enhancing their incubation cells and building strategic partnerships with key players in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. As a result, more and more students are pursuing traditional career paths and entering the world of entrepreneurs, bringing new ideas and vitality to startups.

At Madras Christian College (commonly known as MCC), a hatching cell seed is built to sow in 2020. In 2022, the startup support program was launched, and the creation stone of the facility was laid by Kmvinu Mammen, Chairman of MRF Limited, MRF Limited. The incubation cell has been helping qualified students fund funds up to Rs 1.1 lakh. The professor also received a R&D grant.

The few startups incubated by MCC have now become bigger. For example, a company called Vividobots increased by Rs 250 crore and recently established a separate R&D division in Ambatel. Another startup called Allytriz Technologies has been considered the top 100 promising startups in 2024-2025.

The Stella Maris College’s incubation center established MRF funding in 2023 to support the launch of business ideas in the faculty and student communities and train them to work with peers, mentors and industry experts to develop their ideas into sustainable and profitable business businesses. According to Stella Maris College President Stella Mary FMM Sr. Stella Mary FMM and Stella Maris College Dean, the incubation center belongs to the college’s Innovation and Incubation Community (IIC), whose main goal is to promote entrepreneurs. The college has signed a memorandum of understanding with the TN-Rise Women Entrepreneurship Council, which is part of the Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Project to support the entrepreneurial work of students and faculty. TN-Rise will provide incubation support, business development guidance and skills building training.

In 2025, MOP Vaishnav Women’s Academy is funding through external partners and angel investors. The college has a division called Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) designed to promote entrepreneurial thought and action among teachers and students. The purpose of IIC is to expose students to the reliability of conducting their business through intense workshops, conceptual meetings, group discussions, guest lectures, B-Plan competitions, alumni meeting negotiations, seminars, seminars, seminars and visits to other institutions’ incubation centers.

During the 2024-25 school year, at Ethiraj College, ten new entrepreneurial programs (led by students and two by mentors) are progressing positively, reflecting the growing entrepreneurship spirit on campus.

Now, universities in the three-story towns of Tamil Nadu and Tamil Nadu are slowly embracing the wave of startup on campus.
