Left Democratic Front (LDF) convener TP Ramakrishnan’s confidence in the current Kerala government led by Pinarayi Vijayan won his third term in the 2026 Congress poll.
He is answering media questions related to comments from the outgoing Kerala Congress Committee (KPCC), chairman of the outgoing Kerala Congress Committee (KPCC), who will shoot down Mr Vijayan on Sunday.
Mr. Lamakrishnan said Mr. Vijayan had become Chief Minister with the support of 91 MLAs in 2016. Mr. Sudhakaran is at the forefront of the campaign for the 2021 elections to set Mr. Vijayan apart. However, the government was re-elected with the support of 99 MLAs. “Despite their efforts, the LDF will still receive a third term in 2026,” Ramakrishnan said.
When asked about the recent leadership changes in KPCC, the LDF convener said that this would not have any political impact. Congressional leaders are isolated from people who do not approve their actions. He said: “The United Democratic Front (UDF) is working to restore power with the support of public organizations. It has also been supported by the BJP… The Indian Union Muslim Alliance is trying to incorporate jamaat-e is-islami into an allies in the UDF.” Mr Ramakrishnan claimed that these steps would not hold any water as the people are confident in the changes in life brought about by the Natural Party government.
Meanwhile, the LDF plans to resume its regional-level rallies that have been postponed after the Indian Parker conflict in the border area. Ramakrishnan said Mr Vijayan will address the Kozok-level rally on May 13. He added that rally in other areas will be completed by May 22, while expressing that the ceasefire step will prevail.
