Level XII student and his friend in Tiruvannamalai

A twelfth standard student and his friend were electrocuted on Tuesday on Manalurpet Main Road near the town of Tiruvannamalai as they tried to erect banners as part of their friend’s birthday celebration. Both of them are the only children of the farmers and the parents of wage workers. Police said the deceased was identified as 14-year-old R. Lokesh, his friend R. Dhanush Kumar, 18, who recently wrote the 12th Board of Directors exams. They are neighbors and live in the town of Tiruvannamalai. The initial inquiry showed that as part of classmate B. Kannan’s birthday celebration, Kumar and his friend Lokesh (school dropout) stretched out the banner with other friends, erecting the banner on the steel pole near the 110 KV electrical transformer. When the two tried to tie the ends of the banner to the poles, they accidentally touched the top cable connected to the transformer. They were electrocuted. According to the alarm, the police in Tiruvannamalai town recovered the body and took it to the Government Medical College Hospital in Tiruvannamalai. The case has been registered. Detection is underway.
