Liam Lawson officially demoted from Red Bull F1 team and returned to junior high school

“It has been difficult to see Liam struggle with the RB21 at the first two races and as a result we have collectively taken the decision to make an early switch. We came into the 2025 season, with two ambitions, to retain the World Drivers’ Championship and to reclaim the World Constructors’ title and this is a purely sporting decision,” Red Bull Team Principal and CEO Christian Horner said in a statement on the racing team’s website.
“We acknowledge that there will be a lot of work to be done with the experience of RB21 and Yuki (Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda) which will prove to be very beneficial to help develop the current car. We welcome him to join the team and hope to see him see his rear in the direction of RB21, we have a prudent responsibility; our ability to work hard in difficult situations to enable him to do a tough career quickly, which allows him to act quickly. His statement added that with Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, an environment and a team he knows very well.”
The 23-year-old Lawson has been taken over by Tsunoda. Tsunoda, 24, will begin his F1 racing career at the Japan Grand Prix on April 6 at the Suzuki Tour.
Lawson, on the other hand, failed to score in the first two F1 games of 2025, will be behind the wheel of the Racing Bulls. Tsunoda finished sixth in the Shanghai Sprint competition.
