Locals with 4 cyber crimes held in Telangana

Hyderabad:Hyderabad cybercrime police arrested Noida electrician from Uttar Pradesh. Akash Varma, 22, has a role in 30 cybercrimes nationwide, including four of Telangana. Police said Varma provided a bank account to the scammers.

Police cracked the case while investigating complaints from a 36-year-old city victim who lost Rs 1.47 crore in a fraudster. The victim has been added to a WhatsApp group where he contacted three members named Sanjay, Abacus and Amy.

Abacus, introduced as a guide, encourages victims to download specific applications and start investing.

Initially, the victim was advised to invest a small amount, and he was persuaded to increase gradually. Showcases virtual profits to convince victims of the authenticity of the plan. The victim then joined another group, and the number of investments in the organization increased further.

Soon after, the three began to ask the victims for various expenses for withdrawal of troops. When the victim questioned the payment and tried to withdraw his funds, his phone number was not answered.

Police found that Varma acquired bank accounts from individuals by providing the committee and providing it to the Ringeaders and providing it to transactions with the victims.

Police warn the public that fraudsters often use social media platforms to attract unsuspecting people to fall into such scams, starting with small investments and then upgrading them until once large sums are invested, until the victim is blocked.
