Aadhaar authentication soars at 2,707 CR in 2024-25; UIDAI’s face authentication boosts momentum

Hyderabad: According to Electronics and its IT, Aadhaar Digital Holders conducted over 27.07 million identity verification transactions in 2024-25, which clearly shows signs of its adoption and utility, with 27.07 million identity verification transactions conducted in March alone.

Aadhaar has been a driver of the digital economy, and the increasing adoption shows its growing role in areas including banking, finance, telecommunications, and the smooth delivery of benefits under various government programs and services.

The total number of identity verification transactions in March 2025 was 2.4675 million, up from the same period last year and February 2025 transactions. Since its inception, the cumulative number of certification transactions has exceeded 1.480 billion.

UIDAI’s internally developed AADHAAR facial authentication solution based on AI/ML has been witnessing significant growth. In March, more than 1.5 billion of such transactions occurred, indicating the use of growing usage, adoption of this authentication method, and how it can benefit Aadhaar digital holders seamlessly.

More than 100 entities in the government and private sectors are using facial authentication to provide benefits and services smoothly.

On April 21, UIDAI won the prestigious Prime Minister’s Excellence Award for Public Administration. This is proposed in the innovative category of Uidai’s Face authentication method.

Aadhaar E-KYC services continue to play a vital role in improving customer experience and in business in areas including banking and non-banking financial services.

The total number of EKYC transactions conducted in March 2025 (44.63 CR) was 6% higher than the number in the same period last year. As of March 31, 2025, the cumulative number of E-KYC transactions has reached 23.56 million.

Similarly, 2 million new Aadhaar numbers were generated in March 2025, and more than 191 million Aadhaars were successfully updated after submission by the Aadhaar number holder.
