State government lists welfare measures for visually impaired people, federal urges TN government to hold negotiations

On Tuesday, the Welfare Department of Rich in Different Ambiguous People listed the measures the state has taken for the welfare of the visually impaired.
The Federation of Blinds in Tamil Nadu has been protesting since March 17, urging the state government to consider their needs, including government work for those with visually impaired who complete the Book Binder training program.
According to the press release, 126 of the 359 book holders in the stationery and printing department are visually impaired, which is 34% of the total approved force, exceeding the existing 4% reservations for people with disabilities.
Similarly, according to government orders, there are 32 posts of book binders and book restraint assistants in public libraries operating under the Ministry of Education of the School. The state government is exploring other job opportunities for people with visual impairment rather than book bindings, given the digitization of books in public libraries and the use of modern equipment in printing presses.
Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation has authorized research institutions to provide skills development training for people with visual impairments to enable them to find jobs in private companies and hospitals, especially in telehealth. The release added that the state government is also taking steps to introduce legislation to mandate representatives of people with disabilities in local institutions in the state.
Tamil Nadu said the response from the state government had nothing to do with their demands, and Tamil Nadu said: “To the best of our knowledge, there are 25 books binding vacant in the government. So, is it possible to fill that number? We have been protesting for more than nine days, rather than having invited conversations once,” he said. ” he said.”
