Malayalam actors Shine Tom Chacko and Sreenath Bhasi appeared in front of excise tax officials in Alapazar on Monday as part of an ongoing investigation into the seizure of Hybrid Ganja earlier this month. The drugs were owned by a woman who allegedly told the GST authorities that she had consumed them with Chacko and Bhasi. According to her statement, the GST department issued a notice to the actors prompting them to appear for inquiries. The investigation was part of a larger crackdown on drug-related activities, and the GST officials examined participants’ participation in this particular situation.
Meanwhile, Shine Tom Chacko, who has previously faced allegations of drug use and misconduct, continues to be under scrutiny. On April 22, the Federation of Film Staff in Kerala (FEFKA) issued a final warning to the actor, urging him to avoid any further drug use or destructive behavior in the film collection. FEFKA Secretary-General B Unnikrishnan held a press conference, confirming that Chacko had admitted to drug use. “FEFKA informed family member Shine that he needed professional help to overcome drug use. We will not work with him if he violated the assurance that no longer causes any problems,” Unnikrishnan said in a press conference.
Shine Tom Chacko’s trouble continued last week when he was involved in an incident during a narcotic raid at a hotel in Kochi. The actor reportedly fled the scene, but he was later arrested by police on April 19 after a prolonged interrogation. He was arrested but was released shortly afterwards. The ongoing investigation raises more questions about Chacko’s involvement in drug-related cases.
A commissioner of police officer Putta Vimaladitya told ANI that the investigation is still underway. “The investigation of the case against the actors is in progress. We have taken some samples to forward to the FSL and conduct further investigations based on the results. We are also conducting further investigations. We are also investigating. He is investigating with the investigation. So far, we will not be able to explain further, unless we have further explanations, he has explained it. That’s right,” the police said.
Earlier, Shine Tom Chacko appeared at the Ernakulam North Police Department in response to a notice issued by the police and asked to explain his attempt to escape the hotel in a narcotic raid. Shine’s lawyer accompanied him in this appearance.
