“Malayalam films are going through a great stage, but…”

“It’s absolutely shocking to bring Indian movies to the world,” Prithviraj Sukumaran said in the upcoming promotion for L2 Director L2: Empuraan. The Malayalam action thriller will be released in the theater on March 27.

Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran said on Tuesday that the Hindi film industry in the 1990s has been in a state of breaking down in bringing Indian films to the world, and regional language films will forever be grateful for their showcase path. Prithviraj directs L2: Empuraan’s Malayalam Cinema Superstar Mohanlal, and also plays a major role in IT, who promoted the film in the national capital on Tuesday and released this Thursday.

Prithviraj answered questions about lessons learned in Hindi films that were going through the casual stages, Prithviraj praised Bollywood and said that each industry has gone through a different stage. “Everyone has a lot to learn from anywhere. I understand the conversation and praise of Malayalam movies. But there is no doubt that when we sit on the table in Kerala and think: ‘What to do with Hindi cinemas?’ That was not too long ago, when Maverick filmmakers like Anurag (kashyap), vikramaditya motwane and hansal mehta popped up on the scene and started making content, making us think ‘wow’…Yes, Malayalam movie theaters went through a great stage, but these stages went through a great stage,” but they were in the publicity effect in every movie.

Prithviraj said that people will once again praise the movies from Bollywood in a few years and he would not be surprised. “But one thing about Indian cinema posts is how you brought movies to the world in the 90s. Hindi movies are bringing Indian cinema to the world, and people all over the world have discovered what we create in the country. For all regional languages, we will find in the success of Pan American, we will always rely on, we will bring us inde to andi to in of Himema for Hime fie, and he shows it.

Lucifer, the first part of the franchise, is considered a trilogy, surrounding Mohanlal’s character Stephen Needumpally (aka Khureshi ab’raam), is the main key and commercial success in Malayalam.

Prithviraj also directed the first part in 2019, and he has been actively promoting films across the country, but said the film doesn’t keep the pan-Indian market in mind. “This is not a movie with new discoveries from the pan-Indian market. It’s always conceived in this way. I really think that pan-Indian success can’t be organic,” he added, and they’ve been honest in their storytelling.

The film is touted as one of the most expensive works in Malayalam films and will also be released on IMAX. “This movie is becoming a big platform for filmmakers to prove they can make such movies,” Mohanlar said of the film.

When asked about the uniqueness of Malayalam films, recently communicating commercial and key hits, Prithviraj praised the article. “We always shoot movies with writers and write as illustrations,” he said, adding that writers gain more credibility in Malayalam cinemas than in other industries.

Actors Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier and Indrajith Sukumaran also attended the press conference. Apart from that, the film also includes foreign actors such as Jerome Flynn, Eriq Ebouaney and Andrea Tivadar. Written by Murali Gopy and produced by Antony Perumbavoor, Gokulam Gopalan and Subaskaran Allirajah, the action thriller is also released in Tamil, Kannada and Telugu. (Input with PTI)
