A 43-year-old private financier was arrested in the town of Wiraha, Lanniet, after killing a Sri Lankan Tamil in an economic dispute on Tuesday.

Police said the defendant was identified as a native of Walajah town S. Kameesh. He was involved in the loan business. The initial inquiry revealed that Kameesh was familiar with the victim K. Chandini when he worked in a hotel in Vellore a few years ago. After she separated from her husband, she worked in the hotel with two children.

Police said Kameesh had met her regularly and provided her with money in emergencies over the years. On Tuesday, Chandini asked for money for her son’s marriage.

In anger, Kameesh stabs Chandini in her house near the town of Walajah. She was found lying in blood. As her child cried for help, the neighbor rushed to the house and reminded the Walleja police. She was taken to the Talluke Hospital of the Wallraya Government, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. The case has been registered. Later, police arrested Kamesh, who was placed in the central prison in Velor. Detection is underway.
