A court here has been sentenced to strict jail for rape and sexual assault by an 11-year-old girl in the area in 2013.

Special Judge Dinesh S. Deshmukh, the Special Judge for Protecting Children from Sexual Crimes Act Cases, delivered a verdict on Wednesday (May 14, 2025).

Bablu alias Mohammad Mustapha Imtiyaz Shaikh, 20, was found guilty of the relevant chapters of the POCSO Act and raped under the Indian Penal Code (Indian Polid Orcy).

The court also fined him Rs 10,000.

Special prosecutor Sandhya Mhatre said the survivor lived in the same area as the defendants, where Mumbra was here.

Advocate Mhatre said on the evening of July 6, 2013, Shaikh cost posted her when the girl returned home from school and forced her to go with him, threatening to beat her family.

He takes her to his house and rapes her.

After the girl told her mother about the incident, she registered a complaint with the Mubra police.

“We examined six witnesses, including survivors and mothers, to prove the case,” the prosecutor told reporters.

The defense argued that the defendant was wrong because the girl’s mother wanted a contract the defendant had signed for her son. However, the court dismissed the argument, advocates said.

The court found the girl’s testimony reliable and pointed out that the child would not lie. The prosecutor added that the court also accepted the medical report while convicting the defendant.

Judge Deshmukh directed the amount of the fine to survivors as compensation. The case has also been referred to the District Legal Services Bureau for additional compensation.
