Manamadurai’s Dhinakaran targets biomedical waste treatment units

AMMK founder TTV Dhinakaran on Sunday urged the central and Tamil Nadu governments to stop building a biomedical waste treatment sector in Manamadurai, Sivaganga area, citing public opinion on the project rather than public health concerns.
In a social media post, Mr Dhinakaran urged the authorities to withdraw the permit granted to the unit, which was established in the Sipcot Industrial Zone, Manamadurai, Sivaganga district. He cites media reports about the establishment of the department, despite public concerns about public health in the treatment sector.
Mr Dhinakaran believes: “Although most of the public made strong opposition during the public consultation last year during the establishment of the biomedical sector, the department is fully unfolding.”
Mr Dhinakaran pointed out that the protests were opposed to the force, believing that the gaseous wastewater from the treatment sector would affect people in Manamadurai and nearby areas.
