In the golden age of Indian cinema, the leading ladies of natural beauties shine from Madhubala to Meena Kumari and Nargis to Mumtaz. One of the actresses is not only for her appearance, but also for her unique style.
The audience admired everything about her, from her grace to her iconic hairstyle, which became so iconic that it was called the “Sadana Cut” even today. Sadhana is the true collection of trends in her time. Her stylish feel and style-perfect hair leave a lasting impression not only for fans, but also for her Bollywood peers.
Before stars like Sharmila Tagore, Neetu Kapoor and Asha Parekh ruled the Hearts, Sadhana had already made a mark on herself with her look and charm. She is known for playing the mysterious woman and has her own dominant phase in the 1960s and 1970s.
She studied at Jai Hind College in Mumbai when a producer spotted her in a college performance and offered her a role. She appeared in Shree 420 (1955) starring Raj Kapoor. Her hit movies include Simla’s Love, Mere Mehboob, Mera Saaya and Ek Phool Do Mali. At the height of her career, she was one of the highest-paid actresses in the industry.
Sadhana and Raj Kapoor once had a disagreement between Dulha Dulhan’s collection. Raj reportedly was angry because Sadana kept adjusting his hair between scenes, which was not good for him. After this incident, her equation with Raj Kapoor became sour and she began to dislike him.
Interestingly, Sadhana is also associated with the Kapoor family. Her cousin Babita goes on to marry Raj Kapoor’s son Randhir Kapoor. However, Raj Kapoor opposes the alliance and asks Sadhana to keep Babita away from her son. Sadhana advises Babita like a protective elder, telling her not to consider marrying Randhir. This caused a rift between the two cousins.
Sadhana died in 2015 at the age of 74, leaving behind a legacy of beauty, elegance and unforgettable style.
