Manufacture and sale of forged engine oil in Hyderabad

Forged engine oil captured in Hyderabad on Friday.
A man was arrested for manufacturing and distributing forged engine oil following a joint raid by Commissioner (South District) and Mirchowk police.
The defendant, identified as Shaik Qayyum, 32, a resident of Feelkhana, Begum Bazaar, is operating an illegal business in Goddown, rented by Noor Khan Bazaar.
During the raid, officials seized 710 liters of fake engine oil, as well as packaging materials – including empty boxes, labels, hats, barcode stickers, scanners and other production equipment. The total value of the seizure of goods is estimated to be Rs 3 lakh.
Qayyum, who worked as an auto mechanic, later worked as a worker in a car shop and began manufacturing fake lubricants about five months ago to supplement his income, according to a Mirchowk police official. “The price per bottle is around Rs 425, and the market demand for Castro engine oil is high, prompting him to produce counterfeit oil and sell it to local stores at a lower price of Rs 220.
He allegedly purchased a barrel of universal lubricant, repackaged it with Castrol’s active labels and brands, and distributed them through local channels. ” the official said.
According to the prompts, authorities searched the house, arrested Kayem, and seized the forged products and materials.
