A Democratic senator flew to El Salvador last week to visit an expelled El Salvador immigrant, ignited after revealing that U.S. taxpayers funded his visit to view the visits of detained non-citizens.
Senator Chris van Hollen, D-MD. Last week, he traveled to Central America to examine the well-being of 29-year-old Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an immigrant who illegally crossed the United States and married an American woman before settling in Maryland.

In a dispute over whether Abrego Garcia’s deportation is legal, documents show he defeated his U.S. wife and was allegedly an active MS-13 member by Maryland authorities.

On Sunday’s reason for visiting on Fox News, Democrats were asked whether U.S. taxpayers paid bills for El Salvador’s multi-day trip.
“Who pays for this trip?” asked host Shannon Bream.
Van Hollen replied: “This is a formal clearance of Congress.”

“So taxpayer’s money?” Bram pressed.
“Yes, just like other travels,” the Democrats admitted.
Shortly after the show aired, conservatives began to tear up against lawmakers for using U.S. taxes to go to El Salvador and checking the well-being of the El Salvador man.
RS.C. Rep. Nancy Mace, Van Hollen Hate America, posted on X in response to the Democratic recognition clip.
“He should return the money and resign,” Metz’s position continued. “Annoying tax misappropriation.”
President Trump’s “Border Tsar” Tom Homan also fell into Van Hollen on Sunday.
“What bothers me is that U.S. senators travel on our taxpayers’ dimes to meet with MS13 gang members,” Homan told ABC News.
“What I worry about is that Van Hollen has never been to the border in the past four years, when Joe Biden’s sexual trafficking in women and children increased by 600 percent,” he continued. “I was shocked that he remained silent about the fiasco that took place on our southern border – many people died.”

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also slammed the senator, telling Fox News on Monday that Democratic travel is shameful.
“Shame of Senator Chris Van Hollen and the Democratic Party as a whole, they wasted every Easter Sunday television show in the country to advocate for the return of members of an illegal criminal gang,” she said.
“There is a lot of evidence that this person’s connection to MS-13 has been confirmed in two different courts.”
