Meet a woman who cracked UPSC at the age of 40 while raising children and managing work, and her air is…

She started preparing for the UPSC exam at 35, which is when most people are thinking about settling rather than starting something new.

UPSC is one of the toughest exams in India, and the preparation for success, discipline and emotional strength requires years of success. Nisa Unnirajan of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala proves that determination can overcome even the most difficult challenges. At the age of 40, she cleared the UPSC civil service exam in her seventh attempt and secured 1,000 in all of India.

NISA is a mother of two daughters and serves as an assistant auditor in the Office of Chief Accountant. She also lives with a 40% hearing disability, which makes her journey even more difficult. Despite her health, full-time work and family responsibilities, she never gave up on her goal of becoming a civil servant.

She started preparing for the UPSC exam at 35, which is when most people are thinking about settling rather than starting something new. With two kids to care and a demanding job, she found it difficult to take a coaching class or follow a strict study schedule. Instead, she turned to online resources and conducted research using YouTube videos and digital notes, thus using every free moment in her daily work.

Her first six attempts failed, but she continued to work hard with the same enthusiasm and hope. Her hard work finally paid off in her seventh attempt, and she earned a place on the final merit list. Her story inspired thousands of inspiration across the country, and even MP Shashi Tharoor publicly congratulated her, saying her achievements were indeed inspiring.

NISA attributes her success to her husband Arun, a software engineer and parents who help her manage her children and work life during preparations
