Charul Honariya, a resident of Bijnor Kartarpur village in Uttar Pradesh, achieved an incredible milestone after passing the NEET exam. From a family where no one has stepped out of the village for education, Charul’s journey is full of challenges. Her father, Shaukeen Singh, is a farmer who only earns Rs 8,000 a month, making it difficult to support a family of seven. However, despite financial struggles, Chalu never lets his dreams go away.
Overcome financial and educational barriers
Charul started a clear goal since childhood – to become a doctor and improve health care in her village. However, the financial situation of her family made things difficult. Arrange money for books, coaches, and study materials is not easy. Fortunately, she received a 100% scholarship at the Vidya Gyan School, which supports talented students from poverty-stricken backgrounds. This helped her continue her education without worrying about spending.
Fighting language barrier
One of Charul’s biggest obstacles is her lack of English proficiency. Since NEET requires strong English skills, she began to improve her language skills from level 6. Her dedication paid off and she was able to master complex concepts and learn tests effectively.
Studying under difficult conditions
The villages in Charul have poor infrastructure – no proper roads, unstable electricity and limited internet access. During the lockdown, she worked hard to take online courses due to weak internet connections. She had to sit on the roof to get a better network. Understanding the importance of smartphones in learning, her father even took out a loan to buy one to make sure she could prepare for the exam.
The setback that leads to comeback
Charul first tried NEET in 2019, but unfortunately, she didn’t clean up the exam. But she did not lose hope. She was coached in Dakshina’s scholarship coaching and was ready to work hard. Her perseverance and dedication helped her stand out in the 2020 competition, with 680 out of 720 points and 681 in the All India Ranking (AIR).
Dream Come True: Enter AIIMS DELHI
With his outstanding performance, Charul was admitted to Delhi, the most prestigious medical institute in India. According to her LinkedIn profile, she is currently a student of AIIMS DELHI’s MBBS program for 2020-2025.
