For many in India, cracking the UPSC exam is a dream. This is one of the hardest competitive exams in the country. While many success stories inspired future civil servants, some stand out because they come from unexpected journeys. Such a story is Akash Kulhari.
Akash was reportedly not a great student and was abandoned at some point. But that didn’t stop him. With hard work and determination, he cleared the UPSC Civil Service Exam in his first attempt.
Akash started his academic journey by completing his B.com degree from Duggal College in Bikaner. He then moved to Delhi and received his Master’s Degree (MA) from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), one of the top universities in the country. Afterwards, he took M.Phil and also began preparing for the UPSC exam.
In 2005, all his efforts paid off. Akash won 273 in all India in the UPSC exam. He joined the Indian Police Station (IPS) in 2006 and is part of Uttar Pradesh cadre.
Today, Akash Kulhari serves as the headquarters of the General Commander-in-Chief of Public Complaints and Director-General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh.
His journey from school dropout to senior police proves this, dedication and correct mindset, nothing is impossible. His story reminds people that early academic struggles do not define a person’s future.
