Meet IIT-JEE TOPPER OM PRAKASH BEHERA, who scored 300/300 in Jee Mains, got the air…, no phone call, he comes from…

Jee Topper Om Prakash Behera said his disciplined attitude, focused self-study and strategic preparation helped him to be one of the toughest exams in India.
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is an entrance exam for the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and is one of the toughest exams in India and the world. Every year, thousands of students across India participate in the IIT-JEE, aiming to ensure a place in the IIT. To be successful, candidates must clear two exams: JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Today, we’ll talk about Om Prakash, who scored a perfect 300 points (Air 1) in 2025’s Jee Mains. His advice to struggling students is simple: Don’t overthink, work in weak areas, and focus on future exams.
Om Prakash attributes his success to disciplined self-study, a clear plan and focused preparation. But one thing that stands out is that he decided to avoid distractions. Unlike most of its peers, Om Prakash does not use social media or even does not have a cell phone.
For many young people, smartphones are part of everyday life. But Om Prakash decided not to consider his studies. “I scored 300 out of 300 because I worked hard for three years. I was happy with the results. My parents were very supportive. If you get a bad result, don't overthink. Work hard to address your weaknesses, learn from your mistakes and focus on your next exam,” he said.
Self-study plays an important role in Om Prakash's daily work. “I study alone for 8 to 9 hours a day,” he shared. This consistent effort combined with a well-structured coach helped him master the JEE concept.
Om Prakash also believes in learning from his mistakes. “Each test is an opportunity for improvement. My score will be up and down in weekly tests, but I always try my best. After each test, I analysed my mistakes and avoided them in the next effort.” For the research material, he sticks to the basics, focusing mainly on JEE Main's NCERT syllabus.
Om Prakash is from Bhubaneswar in Odisha and has been studying at a coaching center in Kota for the past three years. His family, especially his mother, Smita Rani Behera, has always been the backbone of support. University lecturer Smita spent a career break with him and provided a supportive environment. His father, Kamalkant Behera, works in the Odisha administrative service department.
Despite the intense schedule, Om Prakash relaxed by reading the novel, which helped him relax. Getting the perfect 300 in JEE Main is just his beginning. Now he is focused on preparing for JEE Advance, the next step in his dream of studying computer science in IIT Mumbai.
Om Prakash's simple but effective mantra is: “Instead of living in the past, focus on the present.” His journey and approach provide valuable lessons for JEE aspiring people who aim to achieve their goals.
