Tripura opposition wants to remove minister from office for “derogatory” remarks

The Communist Party of India (Marxist), Congress and other political parties demanded on Tuesday (March 18, 2025) to cancel the “highly demeaning and very offensive” remarks by Tripura Minister Sudhangshu Das.
The ally of the ruling Bharatiya Janata party, Tipra Motha Party (TMP), also criticized Mr Das, who held a planned portfolio of caste welfare, fisheries and animal resources development, comparing several parties with Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb with an “offensive comment”.
Jitendra Chaudhury, secretary of the Tripura CPI (M) and opposition leader, said the minister introduced social media to the massacres of Aurangzeb against Hindus, marathons and Sikhs, rather than destroying many temples.

Tripura Insaf Parishad, a Muslim organization, has requested a legal lawsuit against Mr Das. The group filed a lawsuit against him in the Unakoti area, accusing him of inciting public hatred through social media.
