Vijaypat Singhania was once one of the richest people in India. Born in the famous Sinhania family, he led the Raymond Group from 1980 to 2000. Under his leadership, Raymond became the global name for textiles and fashion. At one time, he was richer than Mukesh Ambani, Ratan Tata, Narayana Murthy and Gautam Adani.
But life has undergone a surprising change. Today, the former business tycoon reportedly lives in a rented apartment away from the luxurious life he once lived.
The trouble began with the death of his uncle. The power struggle within the family broke out as his cousin wanted to control the business. Later, Vijaypat decided to assign his empire to his two sons – Madhupati and Gautam Singhania.

In 1994, he was named the Honorary Air Force by the Indian Air Force. He also received Padma Bhushan in 2006 for his contributions to commerce and aviation. In addition, the London Institute of Technology and Research awarded him an honorary doctorate.
