Among those who successfully cracked the UPSC exam are two sisters from Unnao, Uttar Pradesh – Soumya Mishra and Sumegha Mishra. Both are from Ajaypur Village in the Asoha region, but their family moved to Delhi about 15 years ago. Soumya Mishra currently serves as SDM in Madihan in the Mirzapur region, earning an impressive all-India level 18, while her sister Sumegha earns an all-India ranking of 253. It is worth noting that both sisters succeeded in making their first attempt.
Sumegha has been a consistent advantage since early education, earning 94% in high school, 92% in the intermediate exams, and then excelling in her Bachelor of Arts and MA degree. After completing her master’s degree, she prepared for the IAS exam in Delhi and made her first attempt to make her family proud.
Their parents, Raghvendra and Renu Mishra, were proud of their daughter’s success. Raghvendra Mishra shared that both daughters aspire to become IAS officials from the early days and achieve their goals through hard work and determination.
Raghvendra Mishra works as a teacher at a degree academy in Delhi, while his wife Renu is a housewife. Grandmother Indra Devi still lives in the village, while their grandfather, Iqbal Shankar Mishra, died.
Soumya praised the support of senior officials during her time at Mirzapur to help her succeed in the UPSC interview and examination phases. She attributes her achievements to the encouragement of her parents and the senior officials she works with.
From the very beginning, the learning environment at home was motivating, Sumegha said. Seeing her sister’s choice gave her confidence and inspired her to work hard. She was glad to clear the exam on her first attempt.
UPSC conducts civil service examinations in three stages each year, including the three stages (IAS), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India (IFS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS). On June 16 last year, the Civil Service (Preliminary) Examination, 2024. A total of 9,92,599 candidates applied for the examination, of which 5,83,213 were actually present.
A total of 14,627 candidates are eligible to appear in court in a written (main) exam held in September 2024. Of these, 2,845 candidates are eligible for the personality test or interview.
Of these, the Committee recommends that 1,009 candidates (725 men and 284 women) appoint various services.
