Born on September 7, 1951 as Muhammad Kutty Panaparambil Ismail; Mammootty is one of the biggest superstars in Indian films. He worked in the Malayalam Cinema and has also appeared in some Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and English films. Mammootty has appeared in over 400 movies over a fifty-year career. The actor appeared in 36 movies in 1983.
Mammootty has multiple blockbusters, but none of his films are in India for Rs 10 billion. His biggest hit is the 2022 action thriller Bheeshma Parvam, which had a global box office of Rs 8.7 crore. Although Mammootty wasn’t killed at the box office like his contemporary Mohanlal, Mammootty was the best performer in Indian cinemas as he won three National Film Awards as Best Actor. His first victory was in the 1990 films Mathilukal and Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha. His second honor was the 1994 films Ponthan Mada and Vidheyan. In 1998, the legendary actor received the fourth-highest civilian award Padma Shri honor.
When talking about her personal life, Mammootty married Sulfath Kuttyy in an arranged marriage in 1979. The couple welcomed their daughter Surumi in 1982 and their son Dulquer Salmaan in 1986. Over the past decade, he has appeared in some of the most popular South Indian films. These include Ustad Hotel, Bangalore Days, O Kadhal Kanmani, Mahanati, Sita Ramam and Lucky Baskhar.
