Kiran Rao’s Laapataa becomes one of the top films of 2024. Recently, the film has received multiple acclaim at IIFA 2025. Ravi Kishan plays Shyam Manohar of the policeman, and his performance has been widely recognized and won the Best Supporting Actor Award.
Now, videos of Aamir Khan auditioning for the same character have surfaced on social media. Aamir Khan had previously shared that he should have played the role in the first place, but Kiran Rao eventually turned him down. Aamir was seen performing scenes from the movie in a recently surfaced audition video.

Although Aamir performed well in the audition video, netizens expressed their satisfaction with the role being rejected in the end, and instead praised Ravi Kishan’s portrayal.
Earlier, Aamir Khan talked about Kiran’s rejection of his role, saying, “I tried to play a role in the movie; she (Kiran) didn’t let me. I wanted to play the police and even did a screen test on it, but I was rejected. But I was keen to play that role, but I think Kiran and It, I think my screen test was good.
