In the 1996 World Cup quarterfinals between India and Pakistan, mid-range batsman Jadeja received 45 runs from 25 delivery, including 22 runs from Waqar Younis. This put India’s score to 287, and Pakistan could not match, losing 39 times. The match also had a famous moment: Venkatesh Prasad dismissed Aamer Sohail after a fierce controversy, resulting in Pakistan being eliminated from the tournament. This is the second time Jadeja and India have ruined Pakistan’s World Cup chance.
Matching stories and bans
In 1994, Prabhakar accused an Indian player of providing him with money and losing against Pakistan in 1997. Six years later, he claimed the player was Kapil Dev, who cried when he revealed the incident. Pakistani player Rashid Latif suggested Sachin Tendulkar knows this. Only Mohammad Azharuddin was proven to be guilty of competition, while others were associated with gamblers like Ajay Jadeja, Manoj Prabhakar and Ajay Sharma. Jadeja’s career ended prematurely and despite his talent, he never reached his full potential. It is not clear whether Prabhakar’s allegations have affected Jadeja’s career or his own behavior.

Jadeja played a role in taking Afghan Team to impressive wins from tough rivals like England, Pakistan and Bangladesh. This success helped Afghanistan finish an astonishing sixth place in the World Cup, earning them the prestigious championship trophy.
