Police said on Tuesday that a female journalist working on YouTube allegedly attacked the Sander Mafia in the Ratnagiri region of Maharashtra. He said the victim was identified as Swati Hadkar and went to a video of an illegal beach excavation activity on the Chiprun River.
“At the scene, some members of the sand mafia attacked her and she was then taken to a state-run hospital,” he said. Hadkar had earlier reported several news reports on illegal sand mine activities in the Chiprun area. Police have conducted cases of unidentified persons at the Chilliplen Police Department and are investigating them.
In February 2023, Mahanagri Times reporter Shashikant Warishe (48) died of an SUV cut off from a land dealer driven by a land dealer in Rajapur, Ratnagiri district. According to police, he had angered the latter with the defendant.
