Meghan Markle talked about “making your hands dirty” and learning at college how to help her prepare to become a company founder.
The Duchess of Sussex talks with Heather Hasson, founder of the medical scrub brand fig in the latest episode of one of her female founders’ podcast confessions.
Meghan said of entrepreneurs who started a business, “It can get messy and the best founders aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty.
“I’m not saying it’s dirty. I mean, when it’s “cleaning five hours in the aisle,” you’re the first person there. ”
The Duchess added: “To me, the point of this, you might also talk about it, and when you see problems that are easy to solve every day, it’s not complicated, it’s not picky, how do you get your hands involved?”
“I see vegetables, see takeaways – because I don’t have time to cook every day – I’m gone, ‘Okay, but how do I still make this kind of flattering, beautiful, good, something that people feel appetizing?

Hasson replied: “I think when you take something so simple in your daily life and lift it up, you can make it elegant and I think that’s what makes it so special.”
Megan also talked about her experience studying drama and international relations at Northwestern University, helping her prepare to become the founder of the company.
She said: “I’m a theater major and part of the show is that you can’t just do the show.
“You have to do soup to soup for every part you need to make, which I think is incredible training because you appreciate the work of the sound man and what the lighting man does.
“The wardrobe department and sewing are also part of it, so I’m very happy with the sewing machine.”
Scrubs Maker Vigs started in 2013 with increasing demand for its medical outfits, face masks and shields during the pandemic.
Figs make medical outfits designed to combine style with comfort and are sold under the tagline: “Why wear scrubs, when can you #wearfigs?”
It sells scrubs in different styles, including “lean scrub” pants and “extra-large size” scrubs, as well as scrubs with a variety of pockets such as Royal Blue, Tsubasa and bright red, and patterns with cats, pandas and kisses.
The company went public in 2021 at $4.57 billion, although its sales and profits subsequently slowed as lockdown restrictions slowed.
The company was rejected when private equity firm Story3 Capital Partners received an offer last December, with figs worth about $1 billion.
