Member States guarantee the forces and support the Berlin ministerial-level United Nations peacekeeping mission

The United Nations needs peacekeeping that is fully equipped for today’s reality and tomorrow’s challenges.”
Welcomes statements of support for peacekeeping and its commitment to the military and police capabilities of member states, he added: “This meeting is also a more fundamental thing: a future for peacekeeping.”
Key results
Among the key results, a total of 74 member states have made assurances, including the commitments of the military and police forces. 53 member states promise a unified capacity, including 88 military and police forces, as well as a variety of key functions, air transport, individual experts, staff and individual police.
59 member states promise specialized training on key issues such as peacekeeping intelligence, protection of civilians, gender and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse.
In addition, 18 Member States have put forward commitments related to technological advances and data-driven approaches to improve mandate effectiveness, and 38 Member States have made commitments to further implement the Women, Peace and Security Agenda, including gender-responsive peacekeeping and peacekeeping women.
Currently, more than 61,000 military and peacekeeping personnel from 119 countries and more than 7,000 civilian personnel serve in 11 peacekeeping missions. According to UNDK data, India is currently the fourth largest unit of 5375 personnel following Nepal (5951), Rwanda (5897) and Bangladesh (5677).
The statement added that the Berlin minister is the latest in a series of high-level meetings to inspire political support and generate tangible commitments to improve the peacekeeping of the United Nations. This follows previous ministerial meetings in Accra (2023), Seoul (2021), New York (2019), Vancouver (2017) and London (2016). The ministers in 2025 coincide with the 80th anniversary of the United Nations and the 10th anniversary of the founding of the leaders in peacekeeping.
