Lok Sabha member and former chief minister Jagadish Shettar met with senior Southwest Railway District officials in Hubballi on April 8 to review the progress of various railway projects in the Bellagarve area of Karnataka.
He said he had received several complaints that the design of the newly built road bridge near the LC No. 79/a is unscientific. “Some farmers complain that they can’t get to the land. A connection road is needed to help farmers,” he said.
SWR General Manager Mukul Saran promises to send senior engineers to check the site and send reports.
Mr Shettar said some home and shop owners complained that they were facing harassment from railway officials who repeatedly issued notices to railway land near Ghataprabha railway station. He asked the railway officials to verify ownership of all of this and then issue a notice to the owner of the building.
General Motors assured members of Congress that he would study the matter and make sure residents don’t have any inconvenience.
Members of Congress said it was necessary to conduct a preliminary investigation into the construction of the new railway line in Lokapur-Ramadurg-Savadatti-Dharwad. He asked SWR to take measures to conduct necessary investigations and promote the construction of the new railway line.
General Motors informed members of Congress that he would get the necessary details and consider organizing a new railroad survey in the coming days.
Mr Saran promised that the land acquisition process for the construction of the new Belagavi-Kittur-Dharwad route would be carefully completed as the work would soon begin by invitation tender.
The proposal to extend Vande Bharat train service to Bengaluru and Dharwad to Belagavi has been sent to the Railway Commission. Another proposal sent to the board was to convert the Belagavi-Miraj-Belagavi service to a meme train.
The work will begin shortly after the tender process begins, on the road bridge built by GM near Belagavi City. The cancelled service of the Bellaga Vemangula Express train will be restarted soon, the official told the official.
