MHA grants citizenship to Kolkata resident’s wife killed in Pahalgam terrorist attack

The Home Ministry has granted Indian citizenship to Soheni Roy, wife of Kolkata resident Bitan Adhikari, who was killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22.
After her husband’s death, a portion of Bitan Adhikari asked questions about Ms. Soheni’s nationality.

Under the Citizenship Act of 1955, Secretary of State Sukanta Majumdar shared Soheni Roy’s certificate of registration on social media.
Mr Mujadar said Sohni had applied for Indian citizenship a long time ago. The BJP leader said: “The Indian government has accepted the application of citizenship. I thank the Indian government, Bitan Babu was brutally killed in Pahalgam. The coalition government has granted citizenship by granting Soheni’s fresh belt.”
Bitan Adhikari, an IT employee who works in Florida, USA, was killed in Pahalgam in front of his wife on April 22. The West Bengal government has announced compensation for the family and allocated compensation between the deceased’s wives. After the tragedy and guaranteed support, several politicians from the ruling party and opposition visited the Adikari family.
Three of the 26 people killed in the terrorist attacks in Jamu and Kashmir on April 22 are from West Bengal. The other two dead were Sameer Guha, a resident of the city’s Behala, from Manish Ranjan, Jhalda, Purulia area.
