Michelle Obama breaks silence on divorce rumors and life after White House | World News

Former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama has made an account of taking a step back from political events and ongoing rumors of marriage to Barack Obama.
Michelle shared that she has been consciously choosing to focus on her well-being and regain control of her time to address changes in public existence since she left the White House.
In a candid conversation with actress Sophia Bush, Michelle Obama resolves the lasting divorce rumor and opens up her priorities for how her daughter moves as she grows up. As the new stage of life develops, she embraces the freedom to focus on herself.
Her absence from major public moments, such as Donald Trump’s second inauguration and the recent funeral of former President Jimmy Carter, has sparked speculation about trouble in marriage. But Michelle put those whispers to rest.
“I could have made a lot of these decisions a few years ago, but I didn’t give myself freedom. Even like I let my kids live their own lives, I used their lives as an excuse for why I couldn’t do anything,”
Michelle explained that her decision to get rid of certain public obligations was intentional and rooted in self-care.
“I’m going to look at the calendar I’m doing this year is a big example of me, and I’m looking at what I should do myself – you know, without a named name – I chose to do the best thing for me, not what I have to do, not what I think others want to do.”
She notes how difficult it is, especially for women, putting themselves first.
“That’s what we do as women, and I think we struggle like disappointing people. I mean, so much that people already know – they can’t even understand that I’m making choices for themselves that they have to assume that my husband and I are divorced.”
Despite calling certain public roles, Michelle Obama is still deeply involved in the reasons she cares about. From the girls’ education to political participation, she continues to use her voice where it matters.
In her best-selling memoir, Become, Michelle is open to the pressures facing marriage, especially during Barack Obama’s presidency. She talks about feeling isolated and emotionally exhausted at times, providing a rare, honest expression to the life behind the curtains.
Even after leaving the White House, Michelle still maintained a strong influence in public life. She is a voice supporter during the 2024 campaign, supporting Kamala Harris and warns voter Donald Trump for a potential return.
At a rally in Michigan, she said: “Please don’t hand over our fate to people like Trump, who know nothing about us, and he feels deep contempt for us.”
After 32 years of marriage, Michelle and Barack Obama remain one of the most popular couples in the United States. They are parents to two daughters – Malia Ann and Natasha Marian and continue to shape the cultural and political landscape of the country, even further than before.
