Cross-sectoral companies limit travel, embracing electric vehicles and eco-certified accommodation, as sustainability grows on the ground

New Delhi: Corporate travel is undergoing a green shift as companies in various industries adopt environmentally-aware practices to reduce their carbon footprint and drive their employees to explore environmentally friendly options when traveling to work.

Companies in technology, finance, consumer goods and healthcare are actively changing the way their employees travel, said Rikant Pittie, CEO and co-founder of EasemyTrip.

He said the companies chose carbon neutral flights, low-emission transport, eco-certified accommodation and travel experiences that have enabled local communities to enhance local communities, adding: “Sustainable corporate travel is becoming a core priority for forward-looking Indian businesses.”

Its partner and chief business officer Satya Jha said professional services firm Grant Thornton Bharat is heading to carbon neutrality.

To reduce the carbon footprint, the company restricts business travel to basic travel and only after virtual alternatives are exhausted. If travel is inevitable, it is driving greener options. “[We are encouraging]to use electric vehicles as much as possible for travel to work…we work with certain electric action companies,” Jha said.

ABB, a leader in electrification and automation technology, has also promoted the use of electric vehicles (EVs). “Sustainability is part of our company’s strategy and business success and we are actively promoting programs that support greener liquidity,” said Rajesh Kumar Jha, National Environment and Sustainability Manager at ABB India. “Electric vehicles are now deployed on local visits throughout the ABB India location, and we have installed electric vehicle charging stations on campus to support this growing transformation. “He said ABB’s next step is to use electric vehicles for logistics, including delivering finished products to warehouses.

Manufacturing companies and conglomerates are leading sustainable travel practices, according to Cleartrip’s B2B head.

Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels Limited has formed a pan-Indian “Green Council” that forms the best green practices in the entire group.

Rajesh Radhakrishnan, general manager of Rajesh Radhakrishnan, said: “Study shows that research shows that 70 to 80% of travelers prefer sustainable travel and accommodation options, and nearly 40% are willing to pay 5-20% for ecological options. “This shift is also evident in corporate hotel partnerships, with selection criteria now exceeding accommodation quality, including sustainability plans.” ”

According to Agoda’s 2025 Sustainable Travel Survey, India is the second most sustainable travel market in Asia, and Indian travelers will take sustainability into account plans.
