Minister Doner reviews the ministry’s work in the presence of the Chief Minister of Assam

The meeting was convened to evaluate the development activities carried out by the Ministry of Development of the Northeast Region of Assam.
The discussion was conducted in detail on strategies to simplify the Northeast supply chain by increasing investment in infrastructure, energy and overall development.
It can be mentioned that the Donors Department is continuing to implement Prime Minister Narendra Modis’s vision to transform Ashtarax Mis. Therefore, the conference explored the potential of enhancing MUGA silk production, palm oil and agar cultivation, promoted diversified tourism opportunities, and especially developed border villages.
During the meeting, the Donner Ministry outlined recent progress in Assam in various sectors such as health, education, roads, agriculture and food processing, tourism, hand-cranking, handicrafts, handicrafts and textiles. The meeting also covered progress on programs such as PM-Devine implemented in the state and initiatives from the Northeast Parliament (NEC). The ministry pointed out that Assam has taken a leading position in the SDG India Index 2023-24. Short-term, medium-term and long-term planning strategies are also discussed to further accelerate the current momentum in the states.
After the speech, Salma said that Assam is now able to compete with developed Indian countries. The chief minister said Assam’s current GDP growth rate is 14%, referring to a consistent growth in the state’s gross domestic product (GDP). If this speed continues, the state GDP is expected to reach Rs 1 million in the next few years. The Chief Minister noted that the demand for ongoing development projects in the state has increased significantly in the energy sector. He noted that by 2032, the state will need an additional 4,000 megawatts. The state government has taken the necessary steps to meet future needs. He added that Assam has become one of the best conditions to reduce transmission and distribution losses in the power sector. Similarly, Assam has also achieved significant success in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates. Sarma stressed that every rupees allocated by the Donors Department for various projects are spent in a way that directly benefits the public. He thanked Federal Minister Scindia for his continued support.
On the other hand, Union Minister Jyotiradia Scindia commented that Assam is becoming one of the country’s major states. He assured that the Donors Department will continue to provide all necessary assistance to further accelerate growth in the states.
