Modernization of Chidambaram Railway Station is about to be completed

Under the Amrit Bharat Station (ABSS), modernization work at Chidambaram Railway Station in Cuddalore District is about to be completed.
The restoration work is designed to provide passengers with better facilities including waiting halls, ticket counters, improved platform and ramp facilities for people with disabilities.
According to railway officials, the Tiruchi railway department has as many as 15 train stations, including Chidambaram in the Tirupadripuliyur, Vriddhachalam and Cuddalore areas and Chidambaram in the Villupuram. About 98% of the work at Chidambaram Railway Station has been completed.
The station has carried out a large number of works, including the construction of entrance arches, improved circulation areas, lobby and booking offices, platform shelter, providing lighting and signage panels, additional benches and dedicated parking.
“With the development of parking spaces and pedestrian pathways and the former elevation work of working in retirement rooms in the station building. Construction of the new toilet block on Platform 1 has been completed. New signage boards and LED display panels are used to facilitate easy navigation for passengers and provide them with basic travel information and essential travel information is installed on the station.”
An integrated passenger information system is being built to provide real-time updates on train schedules, platform changes and other critical travel information to ensure seamless travel for commuters. The modernization of the station is designed to enhance the overall travel experience for passengers.
ABS, an ongoing mission for Indian Railways, was launched in February 2023 and has redeveloped 1,275 stations nationwide.
