MLA aims to achieve complete literacy in Covell constituency

Nellore collector O. Anand spoke in front of Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy in a constituency-level literacy program held Tuesday in Kovur.

Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy, and Spsr Nellore area collector O. Anand, launched a constituency-level literacy program that will be implemented in 138 small villages in the constituency. She believes that the Covell constituency will achieve 100% literacy through this program.

As part of the plan Tuesday at the Coville ICDS Center, she said a meeting was held at the Coville ICDS Center in the hands of local leaders and people, as part of the plan. She said only those who identify local needs and work hard to address their solutions will become true leaders.

MLA further said: “Coville is a dynamic constituency. The cancer screening tests conducted in the past are a success story. Similarly, the literacy program will see good results. The necessary financial support for the program will be provided by Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy through VPR trust.”

“When visiting villages at the site level, I know there are many people who don’t know about the various welfare programs offered by the government. So literacy is crucial for them to have a basic understanding of their respective programs. Everyone has to take advantage of this opportunity and become literate people, especially women,” she said.

The MLA requires community agencies to play their role in achieving complete literacy in Kovur. “It’s a pleasure to share knowledge with others. Everyone should think the same way and make initiative successful,” she said.

Meanwhile, collector Anand said: “As part of an effort to increase literacy rates in the region, the Covell constituency has been selected as the initiative. Nearly 2,500 volunteer teachers have been appointed to teach 22,000 illiterate people in the constituency.”

He added: “In addition to making them literate, awareness of work in the National Rural Employment Assurance Act (NREGA), banking, and other government programs will also be granted to them. As part of the 90-day program, they will also learn basic skills in financial literacy and digital literacy.”
