More than 42 unexploded shells, recently destroyed cross-border artillery from JK’s Poonch

Officials said security forces destroyed 42 unexploded shells in different forward villages near the Ponchi area of ​​Jamu and Kashmir and the Line of Control in Kashmir, officials said. A defense spokesman said the Indian army coordinated closely with local police authorities to successfully carry out a controlled operation to safely undermine 42 unexploded ordnances in the border areas of Jaras, Sarotri, Dalat and Sarani.

He said the shells were remnants of recent cross-border shellings, posing a serious threat to the lives and safety of local residents.

The spokesman said the action is the highest precision, complying with all standard safety protocols to prevent any risks to civilians’ lives or property.
He said the bomb disposal team from the Indian army coordinated with the police to ensure the complete neutralization of all explosive remnants.

He said the proactive effort reflects the organization’s continued commitment to maintaining civilian populations in conflict-affected areas and to restore a sense of normality in vulnerable border communities.

On May 7, India destroyed nine terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) in its operations. After India’s operations, Pakistan attempted to attack Indian military bases on May 8, 9 and 10.

Four days after the confrontation, the two sides ceased hostilities on May 10.
