Her team in Hyderabad has arrested many criminals involved in a series of recent cases, including blackmail, harassment and exploitation of women and minors.
In one case, a 30-year-old private employee was arrested after blackmailing a woman with a secretly recorded intimate video. The defendant met the woman through Facebook and lured her to a hotel room. Without her consent, he secretly recorded the video. Later, he threatened to release the videotape unless she agreed to one of three requests: meet him, arrange another woman or pay Rs 1 lakh in cash. Instead, the woman approached her team and she quickly arrested the man at his residence. After confessing, he was sentenced to three days simple imprisonment at the request of the victim.
In another incident, a 34-year-old plumber from Begumpet was ransomed by neighbors. The man allegedly recorded a private moment while the complainant was celebrating an occasion with colleagues. The next day, he broke into her house and used a videotape to force her into a physical relationship and threatened to post videos online. The defendant was arrested and sentenced to four days simple prison.
The team also found false complaints filed by a woman near Sesendabad Railway Station. She accused an unknown person of sexual assault and asked police to intervene. However, the investigation revealed that the woman was a habitual criminal who targeted police by visiting her cell phone and sending obscene materials, and later asked for money by blackmail. A case was booked against her at the Gopalapuram police station.
In another case, the GHMC vehicle driver was caught on the indecent gesture to a woman who came to deal with the garbage. She acted on the complaint, the team carried out the bait operation and arrested the defendant. He was sentenced to three days simple imprisonment for public misconduct.
In addition, three separate children’s exemption from sexual crimes (POCSO) cases were registered in Chatrinaka, Jubilee Hills and Madannapet Police Departments to target the little girl who manipulated unwilling love and marriage. The defendant engages in physical relationships and later resorts to blackmail for ongoing exploitation. An investigation is underway.
In addition, 49 women have misconducted in various public places in Hyderabad. Of these, 30 people issued warnings and consultations in the presence of their families, while two people gave birth in court and were sentenced to two days in prison and fined Rs 50.
