Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries has increased its stake in the shipbuilding industry and invested in the company

With the purchase of other shares at Nauyaan Shipyard Private Ltd., Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), owned by Mukesh Ambani, said the broader strategy of the conglomerate is to diversify its business portfolio. Reliance confirms the completion of transactions submitted through BSE and NSE.

The wealthiest Asian and Indian businessman has a net worth of over Rs 91 billion and he has increased his footprint in the transportation business. His flagship company Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has acquired a 10% stake in Nauyaan Shipyard Private Ltd. Reliance’s wholly-owned subsidiary purchased an additional stake from Welspun Corp Ltd for Rs 5172 crore. Through this deal, RIL marks a broader strategy for the conglomerate to diversify its business portfolio.
In the document submitted to the regulatory authority, Reliance said, “Nauyaan Tradings Private Limited (NTPL), a step-down wholly owned subsidiary of the company, has informed the Company that it has today completed the acquisition of a further 10% equity stake in Nauyaan Shipyard Private Limited (NSPL), a step-down subsidiary of the company, for an aggregate consideration of ₹51.72 crore from Welspun Corp Limited. ”
Reliance confirmed that transactions between the Mumbai Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) completed the transaction. Company Secretary and Compliance Officer Savithri Parekh has an in-depth understanding of RIL’s future business: “The acquisition of an additional stake in Nauyaan Shipyard shows that it shows Reliance’s confidence in the potential for the growth of the shipbuilding industry.”
