The Mazgaon Court issued bail to Maharashtra Fisheries Minister Nitesh Rane on Thursday (May 15, 2025), without appearing before that.
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray or UBT) leader Sanjay Raut filed a complaint against Mr Raut in 2023, calling it a defamatory and “blatant false” remark from the latter.

Aarti Kulkarni, the first-class judicial magistrate, issued an arrest warrant after Mr Rane and his lawyer failed to appear in court and adjourned the hearing on June 2 for a report on the warrant.
Mr Rane of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA received a second arrest warrant within a month. He failed to show up in response to a similar arrest warrant sent to him.
Rajya Sabha MP Mr Raut allegedly called him a “snake” and claimed that he would join the (undivided) Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in June 2023 and leave behind former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
