The Mumbai High Court on Wednesday (2 April 2025) directed its registration department to designate a petition from Satish Salian in order to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the death of his daughter, Disasha Salian, on the appropriate bench.

The petition has been listed before the presidents of Judges Revati Mohite Dere and Neela Gokhale, but Mr. Salian advocates pointed out that the petition violated women’s crimes and suggested that the petition be assigned to the judicial officers of Sarang Kotwal, who specializes in such cases. The bench then directs the registration department to ensure that the petition is placed and reviewed by the recommended bench.

Mr Salian filed a petition in March 2025 to the High Court urging a new investigation into the death of his daughter. The petition urges the High Court to order the registration of the FIR of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and transfer the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The petition claims that Disha Salian’s death was not accidental, but a cruel rape and murder, orchestrated politically to cover up and protect certain influential people.

Disha, 28, died on the 14th floor of Suburban Malad on June 8, 2020, six days before his death at his Bandra residence on June 14.
