Mumbai Traffic Watcher Dies After Stumbled into the Arabian Sea while chasing rhythm

Mumbai: A 38-year-old traffic warden died in the Arabian Sea in pursuit of the rhythm of allegedly violating traffic rules on Mumbai coastal roads, police said on Monday.

A police officer cited by the PTI said the incident happened Saturday night.

The rhythm is driven from Tata Garden to Worli, and it is reportedly entering coastal roads, with no heavy vehicles allowed.
Traffic watchman Wazir Shaikh followed the pace of the scooter, the official said. But when he was bent on the road, his two-wheeler slipped due to the sand on the ground.

Officials added that Sheikh then hit a cement railing and fell into the sea.

A passing motorist promptly informed the police control room. Soon, police and fire brigade team arrived at the scene and pulled Sheikh out of the water.

The coastal highway runs along Mumbai’s western coastline, connecting Ocean Avenue to Wally.
