Home Minister G. Parameshwara, who has been under fire for comments on the sexual assault case in Bangalore, regrets his remarks.
In response to media inquiries about harassment by an unidentified man in the BTM layout, Mr Parameshwara said he had instructed the city police to strengthen the beat system and said such incidents occurred in big cities like Bengaluru, attracting IREs from many people, including opposition BJP.
Mr Parameshwara said in a clarification Tuesday that his statement was misunderstood and out of context. “Whenever I serve as the Minister of the Interior, I always put women’s safety first. I also asked the police to strengthen the beat system. But if my statement hurts any woman, not the opposition, I will regret it.”
Meanwhile, Suddaguntepalya police officers who have taken over Suo Motu It is reported that the case has resolved the suspect. “But the victim doesn’t want to file a lawsuit. The two women cannot identify the suspect. So we are now working to obtain technical evidence to prove that he is indeed the culprit before arresting him.”
