83,742 non-local residence certificates were awarded within 2 years: J&K Govt.

The government told the General Assembly on Wednesday (April 9, 2025) that in the past two years, about 83,742 residence certificates have been awarded to non-state subjects.
The government replied: “Around 3,512,184 residence certificates have been issued in two years in Jamu and Kashmir. Of these, 83,742 were awarded from individuals outside the previous states.”
Opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker Waheed Ur Rehman Para has sought information from the government. “Why not investigate?” Mr. Para said.
The new number is a quantum jump compared to the numbers revealed in 2021. As many as 185 non-selling goods have purchased land in J&K since the Center repealed Article 370 in 2019, according to data shared with Rajya Sabha in 2021. Fifty-seven non-local regulations were made in 2021 and 127 in 2021 and 127.
