Myanmar earthquake: Several buildings collapsed and about 50 people were trapped after an earthquake hit part of Myanmar and Thailand on Friday. The earthquake was measured at a magnitude of 7.7, followed by an aftershock of 6.4 amplitude just 12 minutes later. Nearly an hour later, another aftershock with a size of 4.9 amplitude was recorded. In Thailand, northeastern India and China also felt tremors.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake is 16 kilometers northwest of Sagan, Myanmar, with a depth of 10 kilometers. The German Center for Earth Science Research (GFZ) also confirmed the depth, placing the epicenter near Mandalay.
