According to the NCS, the first tremor was a magnitude 4.7 earthquake, which was hit at 16:31 IST. “The equation of M:4.7, opening: 01/04/2025 16:31:49 IST, LAT: 21.94 N, Long: 95.97 E, depth: 18 km, location: Myanmar: Myanmar.” NCS said in a post on X.

Meanwhile, after the magnitude 7.7 earthquake that hit Myanmar on March 28, the rescue operation lasted for more than three days, causing extensive damage. As CNN reported, in neighboring China province, people felt the collapse of Thailand’s capital, Bangkok and the tremor. Now, more than 2,000 people have been confirmed to die in Myanmar.

CNN reported that widespread damage was reported after the earthquake caused infrastructure damage. The epicenter is recorded in the central Sagan region of Myanmar, near which is the former royal capital Mandalay. India launched Operation Brahma on Saturday to support Myanmar, which has impacted the earthquake. India launched Operation Brahma to provide necessary support, including search and rescue (SAR), humanitarian aid, disaster relief and medical assistance, and then attacked Myanmar on March 28.

As the first responder to a nearby crisis period, Operation Brahma was the entire effort of India to widespread destruction of Myanmar. In a statement, six aircraft and five Indian naval ships have provided 625 tons of humanitarian aid and disaster relief (HADR) materials so far.

The MEA stressed that India is ready to deploy more material aid and resources to Myanmar based on ground needs and requirements. India’s ongoing efforts under Operation Brahma reflects its commitment to a rapid and comprehensive response to nearby natural disasters. As the first responder, India stands with Myanmar, a key partner in our community, ACT East Policy.
