Bangladesh court issues new arrest warrant against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina (17 others) | World News

Dhaka: Bangladesh court issued an arrest warrant on Thursday for 18 people, including corruption charges filed by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her daughter Saima in the plot allocation under the Purbachal New Town Project, local media reported. Dhaka City Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain issued the order on Thursday to recognize the fees submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission. The court ordered a progress report on the execution of the arrest warrant on May 5.

Bangladesh’s leading Daily Daily Alo reported that a charge table has been proposed in another corruption case in the plot allocation, including Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana and four other family members. The former prime minister has been charged with a plot distribution violation under the Purbachal New Town Project in six cases.

Last month, a court in Bangladesh issued a warrant for arrest against Hasina and four other people, including former Inspector General (IGP) Benazir Ahmed, who allegedly carried out a mass killing in Shapla Chattar in Dhaka in 2013.

Ironically, the Tribunal was established by the government of the International Crimes (Courtary) Act led by Sheikh Hasina, aiming to investigate, prosecute and punish people who commit genocide, crimes against humanity, crimes against humanity and other international law committed by international law in its local cooperatives, among local collaborators, among Pakistani troops.

Analysts believe these developments are the main political hatred pursued by the Provisional Government led by Muhammad Yunus, as several cases were brought against the former prime minister immediately after the removal in August 2024, with her supporters immediately raised on rash grounds. Attitude seeking asylum in India on August 5.

In a speech from India online to supporters of India’s AWAMI alliance from India in February, the Bangladesh Prime Minister accused Yunus of turning the state into a hub for terrorism and illegal acts. She also vowed to return home, ensuring helping families who suffer and providing them with justice.

She said that if Yunus himself admitted that he had no experience in running a country, he should avoid it. “Yunus has no experience in running the government. He dissolved all the commissions of investigation and released the terrorists to the butcher people. They are destroying Bangladesh. We will eliminate this terrorist government.”

She added: “I will return. The killers will face justice in Bangladesh. Their estimates will happen on the soil of Bangladesh. Maybe that’s why Allah keeps me alive.”
