After the recent terrorist attacks in Jamu and Pahalgam in Kashmir, 26 innocent lives were taken, the Mysuru regional government has taken steps to strengthen civil defense preparations. As part of these measures, the government constitutes 12 professional service teams involving officials from various departments to ensure that tensions between India and Pakistan are escalating.

The initiative was announced by other Deputy Commissioner P. Shivaraj, who chaired a high-level meeting held on Wednesday to discuss emergency preparedness and civil defense strategies. The meeting was attended by heads of various departments, and the coordination and multi-organization approach was strengthened.

Mr Shivaraj stressed: “Mysuru is a major tourist destination and vigilance must be maintained. If a crisis arises, all stakeholders must act in a unified manner.” He called for seamless coordination between state and union government officials, especially in critical missions such as evacuating people from safer locations, firefighting and ensuring sensitive areas.

Mr Shivaraj urged officials to prepare to work around the clock in an emergency, adding that the district control room is in operation 24/7 and the directive will be sent to relevant departments immediately. Complying with these directives will be mandatory.

12 teams

The 12 civil defense service teams established by the regional administrative department are headquarters services; warden services; communication services; casualties services; fire protection services; rescue services; welfare services; salvage services; corpse disposal services; warehouses and transportation services; training services and supply services.

In any emergency, the task of these teams is to ensure quick, organized and effective responses that help build public confidence and preparation.
